 Get closer to nature, spend quality time outdoors, and meet new people along the way.  Canoeing is a fun water sport activity that improves your personal fitness, agility, strength and confidence. Canoeing is an accessible, low-impact water sport activity, no matter what your level of fitness.

Find out how to prepare, stay safe and have fun on your water adventure.  Learn how to use rivers to access and explore untouched pockets of nature, as well as the technical skills to get you there. Uncover the rich history of your surrounding environment.

Mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori is embedded throughout this programme.

We learn about the cultural significance of each outdoor environment we operate in

We look at the contrast between modern and traditional approaches to the activities.

Canoeing Short Course dates - 2 intakes to choose from:

Intake1: 4-day programme over 2 weeks (includes 1 overnight stay)

Week 1: Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th October 2024 (at Wintec)

Week 2: Thursday 10th and Friday 11th October 2024

(out on location, Waikato River and Waipa River, with overnight                      stay on Thursday night at Hamilton Tomo Group Hut in Waitomo)

Intake 2: 4-day programme over 2 weeks (includes 1 overnight stay)

Week 1: Thursday 7th and Friday 8th November 2024 (at Wintec)

Week 2: Thursday 14th and Friday 15th October 2024
