Demonstrate knowledge of workplace Health and Safety requirements US 497
This course will take you through the Health and Safety responsibilities of workers in New Zealand. You will learn what is expected of you in a workplace, including what steps you are expected to take to ensure the safety of others. The course will also give you a comprehensive understanding of risk management, protective clothing and equipment, emergency procedures and your right to refuse unsafe work and be adequately trained for a job.
Chainsaw Rules (Unit Standard 6916)
This short, one-day course is perfect for beginner chainsaw users or anyone wanting to formalise their skills. It will help you understand the accepted industry practices when operating, maintaining, and starting a chainsaw. There are no practical elements on this course, however you will learn the rules for tensioning, sharpening, and setting depth gauges of chainsaws, as well as using chainsaws above shoulder height. Personal Protection Equipment and First Aid requirements are also covered in detail, including the transportation and use of chainsaw fuel.
Chainsaw Operation (Unit Standard 6917)
This course is for those who have experience with a chainsaw, but would like to take their knowledge, skills, and competency to the next level. Through theory and practical testing, you will prove they you can handle chainsaws safely and in a working environment. There are pre-requisites for taking this course, including Unit Standard 6916 – Chainsaw Rules, so please check beforehand if you are eligible to join.
