Course Description
If your role involves servicing, maintaining, repairing, disconnecting, reconnecting, or testing permanently connected three-phase electrical equipment, New Zealand legislation requires you to hold the appropriate registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
This programme provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely work on three-phase electrical equipment and prepares participants to apply for registration as an Electrical Service Technician (EST).
The programme covers electrical safety, fault-finding, testing procedures, regulatory requirements, and practical servicing skills necessary for working on industrial and commercial electrical equipment.
Programme delivery - 4 x online night live zoom classes with 8 on campus night classes over 4 weeks ( 2 nights per week )

Week One – 29/09/2026, 01/10/2026 -2 x Online live zoom night class 5.30pm to 8.30pm – Tuesday and Thursday nights ( do this from you own location )
Week Two – 05/10/2026, 07/10/2026 -2 x online live zoom night classes 5.30pm to 8.30pm – Monday and Wednesday nights ( do this from you own location )
Week Three to Seven - 12/10. 14/10, 19/10, 21/10, 27/10, 28/10 ( please note Tuesday night due to stat holiday) 02/11, 04/11 - ON CAMPUS NIGHT SESSIONS (8)

To gain registration with the EWRB, you must also complete Electrical Safety Training and Assessment (Safe Working Practices). click here for further information
EWRB EW Number Requirement
All new electrical workers are required to obtain an EWRB EW Number before attending training.
To apply, create your profile through the EWRB website www.ewrb.govt.nz and select Register. This is not a registration application, just a profile request for all future results and applications for registration to be lodged against.
