EASQ Night Course – Electrical Appliance Serviceperson
The course covers what you need to know about safely and effectively maintaining single phase, 230-volt appliances.
Description
Course Description
The Electricity Act says that to maintain electrical appliances, you must be registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board as an Electrical Appliance Service Person endorsed to disconnect and reconnect. This course is designed with two simple goals in mind: to have you sufficiently trained and knowledgeable to work safely with 230-volt appliances, and to pass the required exams.
ASPEQ Exams
From September 2018 (for EAS and EST exams) and October/November 2018 (for other EWRB exams) Aspeq will be offering on-line examinations to be held at either one of their examinations centres or at your Training provider’s venue. Exams are no longer only available on specific dates but available throughout the year. In order to sit an examination however, you must be eligible to sit (ie completed a course of instruction) and have this verified by your training provider.
Please note: this course fee does not include the EWRB Exam fees. Exam fees are to be paid directly to ASPEQ upon booking through their website.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites
You must have a current First Aid and CPR certificate. A theory workbook is provided about three weeks before the course start date. You’ll need to complete this before session one of the course.
A resource folder and other support material will be included. A workbook will also be sent out to learners before the course starts.
All new electrical workers need to apply for an EWRB EW Number.
ALL new Electrical Workers now need to create their own profile by going online to the EWRB website and clicking on Register: www.ewrb.govt
This gives you the EW number you will need to bring with you to the programme. Please arrange this before you attend the first day and give to the tutor to apply your results/assessments to your profile at EWRB. Please note this is NOT your electrical registration number, nor does it give you the registration to begin electrical work here in New Zealand. This is required for training result purposes only.
